Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking Expressions of Interest from consultant(s) / a firm of consultants for Media coverage of the Regional Fortification Alliance (RFA) Coordination Meeting in Abuja (FCT), Nigeria. The media consultant will coordinate and provide media coverage to increase awareness of the project initiatives and increase visibility for the organization's work with national and international media space.




Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is an international non-governmental organization supporting relief and development work in over 99 countries around the world. CRS works through local church and nonchurch partners to implement its programs, therefore, strengthening and building the capacity of these partner organizations is fundamental to programs in every country in which CRS operates. CRS has worked in Nigeria for more than 25 years.

Title: Media Consultancy for the Regional Fortification Alliance (RFA) Coordination Meeting

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Background

  • Catholic Relief Services (CRS) with funding from the BMZ through GIZ is implementing a Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) Project in West Africa with the first phase piloted in Burkina Faso as a priority country.
  • The second phase which started on November 1, 2023, for a duration of 12 months, seeks to expand and improve food fortification to sustainably contribute to the reduction and prevention of vitamin and mineral deficiencies among women, girls, and vulnerable populations in West Africa.
  • The overall project objective is to develop and improve food fortification to sustainably contribute to the reduction and prevention of vitamin and mineral deficiencies among women, girls, and vulnerable populations in West Africa by strengthening public sector capacity for mandatory and effective fortification of key food vehicles (vegetable oil, wheat flour and salt).
  • It is with the aim of making this coordination devolved to the regional alliance operational that WAHO is organizing the first coordination meeting, which will be holding in Abuja Nigeria on July 30 to 31, 2024.

Objectives

  • The media consultant is to coordinate and provide media coverage to cover the proceedings for the two days event.
  • The objective is to increase awareness on the project initiatives and increase visibility for the organization’s work with national and international media space.

Deliverables

  • Engage and coordinate the services of the Media/Press for the coverage of the event (both National and International Media). See technical specification of media below:

  • Ensure the participation of the national and international press during the opening (30 July- 9am) and closing (31 July - 4 PM) ceremonies.
  • Ensure the live tweeting and online broadcasting of the event.
  • Coordinate to collect the recordings, links and visuals from the media persons to share with CRS during and post-event.

Competencies:

  • Proven experience delivering and coordinating media consultancy services.
  • Relevant Degree in Journalism or Mass Communication.
  • Proven experience in documenting media coverage and production materials for the media.

Technical Requirements:

  • Previous experience conducting a similar task.
  • Professional certifications and eligibility to perform services.
  • Adequate work plan that details work to be performed and lead time to complete it.
  • Excellent networking skills with private and public sector institutions
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to conduct discussions with a diversity of people.

Payment Schedule
Please note that CRS will deduct and remit to the relevant tax authority a 5% or 10% withholding Tax from the total consultancy fees for individuals or organizations in accordance with the Nigerian Tax Law:

  • The consultant will be paid a fixed rate after satisfactory completion of the assignment.
  • Payment will be disbursed as per activity schedules, submission of completed & verifiable report upon completion of agreed deliverables.
