Misinformed social norms, lack of access to adequate facilities, products and knowledge means that managing menstruation can be challenging for women and girls, especially for displaced population - to manage their menstruation safely and with dignity. Globally, menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is overlooked in emergency situations, which has a direct impact on personal hygiene, gender safety and health. Known obstacles to overcoming menstrual barriers are insufficient funds to buy menstruation products or underwear to manage their menstruation, uneven or no access to water for a clean management, lack of safety using sanitation facilities and distribution of inadequate panties/underwear (number, poor quality, wrong size etc).
