Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA) invites interested and eligible individuals / independent consultants to indicate interest by submitting RFP documents for the following works:

Since our inception in 1985, we have designed and implemented enterprise-based, agricultural development initiatives to facilitate market access, enhance agribusiness competitiveness, increase productivity, and improve access to inputs and financing in 47 countries around the world.

Preamble
The Feed the Future Nigeria Agribusiness Activity (FTF) is a USAID program implemented by CNFA in Nigeria. The goal of the Feed the Future Nigeria Agribusiness Activity (FTF) is to strengthen the enabling environment for agribusiness finance and investment. To achieve this goal, the activity focuses on four interrelated components: 1) improving the agribusiness enabling environment; 2) broadening access to finance by mitigating the credit risks of agribusinesses; 3) facilitating investment opportunities for agribusinesses to expand and scale up operations; and 4) enhancing the performance of agribusiness Medium Small and Micro-Enterprise (MSMEs). In line with the U.S. and Nigerian Government’s commitment to growing the non-oil-based economy, these efforts will increase the quality, quantity, market access, and diversification of Nigeria’s economy.

As part of project activities, the Nigeria Agribusiness Investment Activity requires the services of an Editor to review and edit Nigerian policy documents, including technical information on the Nigerian economic environment, agriculture, and policy to impact growth, and carry out other tasks as assigned by the Activity’s Director of Policy and Enabling Business Environment, or his designate. The Editor will have knowledge of the Nigerian economic and/or policy environment, and the agriculture sector.
 
Offerors are responsible for ensuring that their offers are received by the Activity in accordance with the instructions, terms, and conditions described in this Solicitation. Only individual Independent Consultants are eligible for consideration in response to this solicitation. Consultant firms are not eligible to apply this procurement. Failure to adhere with instructions described in this solicitation may lead to disqualification of an offer from consideration.Please reference the solicitation number in all responses.

Roles and Responsibilities




  • Editing, reviewing, and formatting technical policy documents in accordance with company, counterpart, and client-specific style guidelines.
  • Work closely with the project technical team to review and submit technical policy report deliverables within deadlines given.
  • Edit documents in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Read policy content and correct spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors.
  • Work with authors to develop accurate and concise deliverables.
  • Compile and maintain accurate acronyms and abbreviations lists as needed.
  • In some instances, assemble, research, and manage references for technical information within Nigerian report text.
  • Perform other duties related to this assignment as requested by the Director of Policy/Enabling Business Environment, or his designate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Policy Analysis, Public Administration, Agricultural Economics, or relevant field is required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in writing or editing technical documents in Nigeria
  • Have demonstrated strong technical experience in editing documents, preferably in policy or an economic field, including excellent writing and grammar; ability to edit for accuracy, brevity, clarity, and consistency in accordance with counterpart/client style guide standards
  • Have familiarity with the agricultural sector in Sub-Saharan Africa agriculture sector, preferably West Africa and Nigeria
  • Provides a portfolio or samples of previous work which demonstrates skill set is required
  • Experience in working with donor-funded projects, particularly USAID, is preferred
  • English and knowledge of a local language is strongly required
  • Strong attention to written detail as well as ability to develop a narrative story within a document.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is strongly required
  • Ability to meet and produce quality deliverables and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.

  • While preference will be given to offerors who can address the full technical requirements of this solicitation, CNFA may issue a partial award or split the award among various suppliers, if in the best interest of the Feed the Future Nigeria Agribusiness Activity (FTF)Project.
  • CNFA may cancel this solicitation at any time.
